I love the Anita Blake Series...or at least I did for a while. I miss the mystery the early books had. I'm sick of hearing about what a self-loathing person Richard has become. Her work for the police and for the necromancy firm seems to have basically disappeared and has been replaced by on-going, poorly written, self-loathing sex scenes. I love the scenes from a few of the earlier books, but now it's become a chore for her and she still acts like it's some moral fight constantly. She needs to develope a little bit. her character does not seem to have evolved throughout the series hardly at all, and all the other characters lost all their own will and personalities.This book in particular did a lot of building with a lot of nitty gritty details as Anita dealt with a plethora of problems, with all of them leading up to a major confrontation where the mystery was solved. However, the mystery never felt front and center in the book, the mystery felt like it was thrown in there as a side "plot" to the more major theme of Anita saving everyone with her uber powers and pointing out how much better she is than everyone else in terms of her "morals". When you finally get to the big finale at the end, everything closes up so fast that it feels like Ms. Hamilton simply got sick of writing this one and just said enough to make it end, then threw together a quick epilogue to quickly tie up all the loose ends she'd made throughout the book. There was a weak grasp at tying a previous character in from a previous book, but it was not developed enough to really work well.I gave this 3 stars because I do really like these books, and she seems to come more to terms with herself i these than in the past books, BUT I have a feeling this may be the last book I read of this series. I no longer enjoy the direction these books have taken.

This series breaks my heart. First 10ish books were good to excellent. After that the series goes full erotica and the expense of everything that made the series good.

This book was exciting to read. It was hard to put down until I finished it. I loved the transformation Anita Blake has made from book 1 all the way to this book. Finally my frustration with Richard has been finally come to an end. One lesson I definitely learned that applies directly to me is be who you are and embrace it no matter what. Trying to fight against yourself is a loosing battle. Go Anita Blake for being a strong and exemplary woman. Well done Laurell Hamilton .

Honestly I do not understand all the negative reviews I saw for this book. I love the character development in this book. I was getting tired of the Scooby Doo mystery formula of the last couple of books. I even skipped over obsidian butterfly because I got bored. I wanted more romance, more magic, and I am glad Richard has been replaced. Some people have complained about the erotism but think it has always been in her books. This book just pushed Anita to overcome her prudishness and open her mind to new ideas. Bravo!

Absolutely phenomenal book. Most series lose you as they go on. They fail to evolve and grab you as they once did. Not so with Anita Blake. This series keeps getting better all the time. Seeing character development in even minor characters is an amazing thing. I am stunned by Laurell's ability to mix genres the way she has here and not seem convoluted. A clear progression of multiple plot points, great pacing and awesome action. I am thrilled by her attention to detail with Magic, Vampires and Lycans those subjects are close to home for me, particularly Necromancy and I admire her for honouring it so.

Hamilton weaves a great plot and plot is a big part of any book. Hot, spicy and a real go-around. However, she gets ever deeper into the psychological conundrum(s) of her lovers and friends and sometimes a book can become just a little bit too plot-heavy. It almost threatens even to topple Anita Blake as she is first dragged into and then becomes more and more tired - and I don't blame her! If you are a fan of Anita Blake - and I would buy her next book in a minute - it is all easier by far to follow. I love the way LKH seems to be able to pull off the trick of surprise after surprise from beginning to end of the book. But then, again, she does that in all her books. I am not a fan of S and M and that may be why I backed off a bit from this book because S and M can become deadly without constraints and the "bad boys" in this one are REALLY bad boys and seriously threaten Anita Blake and her lovers, all of whom seem to change a great deal as the stories progress. I loved the book - with SM reservations. Thanks, LKH. READ IT!

This book is great! I've ordered two of Judith Belmont's books so far and have been impressed with both. Lot's of activities and printouts that I have found useful in my work with adults on an inpatient psychiatric ward. Love the CBT based units. Most of the activities are suitable for a broad age range.

Fantastic resource for any therapist. The spiral-bound set-up is ideal for easily making copies to use for handouts. The resources are fantastic; the ideas very creative. I love that these exercises can be used for teens, adults and adolescents. I used three of the activities with a brand-new teen group this weekend and as a result, witnessed six kids with social phobia let their guards down and commit to the therapy experience. This is the first book I have bought of hers; it will definitely not be the last. Thanks, Judy! Keep up the great work.

I was struggling to find new topics and group ideas every week, but this book is a tremendous help. I've had it for a day and it has already paid for itself. Some reviews accuse the activities of being "too simplistic". And honestly, some of them are. But they can also be modified to fit your needs. Bottom line: The book is a tool. It will not do your job for you!

The activities in the book have worked very well for my support group, which is focused on trauma recovery. My group members have especially enjoyed some of the positive focus activities. I do not work with addiction recovery groups, but think they would work well there also. These ideas have sped up my group planning.

This is an awesome group therapy guide. I use this with my groups and they love these activities. It keeps them all engaged. Definitely would recommend this for therapists.

" -- This is "literal", not "allegorical"(?!) -- This is the same poor "interpretive method" as Hal Lindsey's explanation of locusts in Rev. 9, locusts being "helicopter gunships", whereas in the same chapter, verse 11, it says: "and they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit. ...", strongly implying that this is a spiritual invasion, and a representation of "demons" being released from hell! ... 'The Holy Bible is its own best interpreter.' Read Isaiah 17:12-13, in which Isaiah talks about Damascus is eerily similar terms: "the multitudes of many people, which make noise like the noise of the seas, and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of many waters! The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters ..." - Rev. 17:15 explains this terminology explicitly! "The waters ... are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues ..." Is it too much to say: "I don't know what the exact order of events might be"? OR "Perhaps the application of the prophecies to various geo-political entities MIGHT BE a small part of the same apocalyptic cataclysm involving a large number of national prophecies being fulfilled in the same period of time"? To substantiate that a large IDF military is the cause of deliverance in Ez. 37-38, he quotes Ez. 37:10, " ... an exceeding great army.". Can't GOD the Father and Jesus Christ Himself be the miraculous cause of Deliverance in these chapters ? Go back and do a proper Biblical exegesis - a LITERAL interpretation of who this is speaking of: Verse 9 identifies PRECISELY -- LITERALLY -- who they are: " ...breath upon these SLAIN, that they may live [again]." *Whoever they are, they are not the Israeli IDF! They were KILLED, and then are RAISED FROM THE DEAD! -- This couldn't possibly be an army consisting of the MARTYRED and RESURRECTED saints of God from the Old and New Testament, now serving and coming back in the Armies of Heaven in Rev. 19:14 at the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ (?) -- *[Rev. 9:14 is the ONLY "army" in BIBLICAL eschatology I know of, that FITS the definition of being SLAIN, and then RESURRECTED!] *(See: Joel 2:1-11, esp. v.11. -- Isn't this a possibly fitting scenario?)

This volume is written with a clarity and depth that is often difficult to find. I found this book difficult to leave, and after reading, the profound insights it affords made his insights reverberate through my mind until I was able to resume the study of our world today and where it is headed in an increasing rush much like lemmings rushing to the cliffs. I truly enjoy all the books that Bill Salus has written. This one is no exception. M.r Salus has a wonderful grasp of the Bible's prophetic scripture and is very adept at explaining them in a manner that can be easily grasped and understood. Do I agree with everything he says about prophecy? Probably not, but I will admit that I agree with his explanations more than most eschatological writers I have read. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in letting the Bible explain not only what has already happened, but what God says it still coming.

Psalm 83 by Bill Salus was the first book I read concerning the Prophecy. It was a good one. And now Bill's done it again with The Now Prophecies. I like it because it uses more recent happenings to support his description of the end times. It's an easy to read book with lots of illustrations.

Timing is relevant in prophecy. This book unlocks some good projections and lays out scriptural support for them. It makes sense. Where there is valid room for lee-way this is generally expressed and not suppressed. A worthwhile read, direct and to-the-point.

This is a very very good book. Its so currently updated and explains verses so well that all who read will hopefully pass it on. This should help many readers understand prophecy to the extent that salvation will be received quickly. Again very good book!!!

Bill Salus does a fantastic job pulling pertinent NOW prophecies and NEXT prophecies out of the scriptures and expounding on their importance to those living today. This book should be read by everyone as the prophecies described therein will affect everyone (with the possible exception of true believers). The world stage is set for fulfillment of these events; anyone with ears to hear and eyes to see can attest to that fact. Unfortunately, as it was in the days of Noah, many opt to continue with business as usual as though they have years. This book clearly shows that our world could radically change NOW.
