This book is great! I've ordered two of Judith Belmont's books so far and have been impressed with both. Lot's of activities and printouts that I have found useful in my work with adults on an inpatient psychiatric ward. Love the CBT based units. Most of the activities are suitable for a broad age range.

Fantastic resource for any therapist. The spiral-bound set-up is ideal for easily making copies to use for handouts. The resources are fantastic; the ideas very creative. I love that these exercises can be used for teens, adults and adolescents. I used three of the activities with a brand-new teen group this weekend and as a result, witnessed six kids with social phobia let their guards down and commit to the therapy experience. This is the first book I have bought of hers; it will definitely not be the last. Thanks, Judy! Keep up the great work.

I was struggling to find new topics and group ideas every week, but this book is a tremendous help. I've had it for a day and it has already paid for itself. Some reviews accuse the activities of being "too simplistic". And honestly, some of them are. But they can also be modified to fit your needs. Bottom line: The book is a tool. It will not do your job for you!

The activities in the book have worked very well for my support group, which is focused on trauma recovery. My group members have especially enjoyed some of the positive focus activities. I do not work with addiction recovery groups, but think they would work well there also. These ideas have sped up my group planning.

This is an awesome group therapy guide. I use this with my groups and they love these activities. It keeps them all engaged. Definitely would recommend this for therapists.

A few lines later he writes: "This is not a colloquialism that tolerates a typological or allegorical explanation; rather it demands a literal interpretation!" then he follows a few lines further on, to give an allegorical or symbolic "interpretation" to the phrase, saying that it represents ""missiles launched from ... the Mediterranean Sea, which happens to be where several Israeli owned Dolphin class nuclear submarines patrol. ... " -- This is "literal", not "allegorical"(?!) -- This is the same poor "interpretive method" as Hal Lindsey's explanation of locusts in Rev. 9, locusts being "helicopter gunships", whereas in the same chapter, verse 11, it says: "and they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit. ...", strongly implying that this is a spiritual invasion, and a representation of "demons" being released from hell! ... 'The Holy Bible is its own best interpreter.' Read Isaiah 17:12-13, in which Isaiah talks about Damascus is eerily similar terms: "the multitudes of many people, which make noise like the noise of the seas, and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of many waters! The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters ..." - Rev. 17:15 explains this terminology explicitly! "The waters ... are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues ..." Is it too much to say: "I don't know what the exact order of events might be"? OR "Perhaps the application of the prophecies to various geo-political entities MIGHT BE a small part of the same apocalyptic cataclysm involving a large number of national prophecies being fulfilled in the same period of time"? To substantiate that a large IDF military is the cause of deliverance in Ez. 37-38, he quotes Ez. 37:10, " ... an exceeding great army.". Can't GOD the Father and Jesus Christ Himself be the miraculous cause of Deliverance in these chapters ? Go back and do a proper Biblical exegesis - a LITERAL interpretation of who this is speaking of: Verse 9 identifies PRECISELY -- LITERALLY -- who they are: " ...breath upon these SLAIN, that they may live [again]." *Whoever they are, they are not the Israeli IDF! They were KILLED, and then are RAISED FROM THE DEAD! -- This couldn't possibly be an army consisting of the MARTYRED and RESURRECTED saints of God from the Old and New Testament, now serving and coming back in the Armies of Heaven in Rev. 19:14 at the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ (?) -- *[Rev. 9:14 is the ONLY "army" in BIBLICAL eschatology I know of, that FITS the definition of being SLAIN, and then RESURRECTED!] *(See: Joel 2:1-11, esp. v.11. -- Isn't this a possibly fitting scenario?)

I recommend this book.

This was my first experience with this amazing author. Having studied prophecy for decades with Biblical scholars from Dr. Dwight Pentecost, Dr. Michael Heiser, Hal Lindsey and other powerful scholars who follow where both Old and New Testament prophets lead, giving their combined wisdom a beacon in the encroaching darkness. This volume is written with a clarity and depth that is often difficult to find. I found this book difficult to leave, and after reading, the profound insights it affords made his insights reverberate through my mind until I was able to resume the study of our world today and where it is headed in an increasing rush much like lemmings rushing to the cliffs. Prophesy today jumps from the pages of our newspapers, but without the inspiration of Biblical prophets, those who discount the Bible are left in an existential malaise of hopelessness. Regardless of one's religious beliefs or lack of, I would offer this book for consideration to ponder and see if it doesn't add an alternative to the global philosophy that offers no real hope in an increasingly dangerous world.

I truly enjoy all the books that Bill Salus has written. This one is no exception. M.r Salus has a wonderful grasp of the Bible's prophetic scripture and is very adept at explaining them in a manner that can be easily grasped and understood. Do I agree with everything he says about prophecy? Probably not, but I will admit that I agree with his explanations more than most eschatological writers I have read. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in letting the Bible explain not only what has already happened, but what God says it still coming.

Psalm 83 by Bill Salus was the first book I read concerning the Prophecy. It was a good one. And now Bill's done it again with The Now Prophecies. I like it because it uses more recent happenings to support his description of the end times. It's an easy to read book with lots of illustrations.

Timing is relevant in prophecy. This book unlocks some good projections and lays out scriptural support for them. It makes sense. Where there is valid room for lee-way this is generally expressed and not suppressed. A worthwhile read, direct and to-the-point.

This is a very very good book. Its so currently updated and explains verses so well that all who read will hopefully pass it on. This should help many readers understand prophecy to the extent that salvation will be received quickly. Again very good book!!!

Bill Salus does a fantastic job pulling pertinent NOW prophecies and NEXT prophecies out of the scriptures and expounding on their importance to those living today. This book should be read by everyone as the prophecies described therein will affect everyone (with the possible exception of true believers). The world stage is set for fulfillment of these events; anyone with ears to hear and eyes to see can attest to that fact. Unfortunately, as it was in the days of Noah, many opt to continue with business as usual as though they have years. This book clearly shows that our world could radically change NOW.

Gordon Laing is well-known for his highly detailed camera reviews, and for his witty podcasts, which also evaluate camera gear. It's good to see a collection of his photographs. All the shots are taken with mirrorless cameras, and the images are unedited JPEGs. His point, made well by the images and text, is that highly excellent photographic images can be produced without post-processing of RAW files.Do note that Mr. Laing studiously chooses which film simulations he applies in camera, and may also dial in adjustments to contrast or saturation in the camera's JPEG parameters before shooting.. One can think of this technique as pre-processing, as opposed to post-processing. Or, one could simply consider it to be skillful photography. His approach with JPEGS is not simply to put the camera on automatic, then point and shoot JPEGs without the photographer's input. Instead, he employs a thinking photographer's workflow to produce a beautiful JPEG in camera.Such a technique, while using the sometimes disdained JPEG, encourages the photographer to slow down. He requires knowledgeable adjustments to the exposure and JPEG parameters before shooting, instead of shooting RAW and pushing sliders in post-processing.The book is well-printed, the images are beautiful, and it's a "two thumbs up" purchase for the photo enthusiast.

When I briefly reviewed the books description, I thought the book would provide details about various jpeg settings, benefits, use of such in different environments. That is, when and how to use contrast, saturation, sharpness for in camera jpegs. I also thought the book would discuss shooting raw, and then applying various jpeg adjustments in camera. Neither of these are addressed. Rather, this book is a compilation of dozens of travel photos, indicating the basic triangle of shutter, f stop and iso, along with pre defined jpeg options (Velvia, chrome, standard), with little discussion of why the jpeg process was chosen.I really like Gordon, but I am hoping for a sequel. This book spends much more time discussing the geography, weather conditions, building history, etc., with too little discussion on why he chose the specific jpeg conversion. It would have been nice to see less pictures, and instead, showing a picture photographed and converted to jpeg with mild, medium, strong contrast, sharpness, saturation, and a good explanation of those controls, as well as when, why to utilize such adjustments.

Gordon Laing, most notable to most photographers as the genius camera-reviewer behind cameralabs.com, has put together a diminutive coffee table book that is both a collection of outstanding images as well as an inspiring look at just what a knowledgeable photographer can do sans software. If this book were nothing more than that, Laing's travels and musings would be well worth the purchase- but we have yet to enjoy the elements designed for his main audience- photographers.Following his brief introductions to the subject, Laing goes into tremendous detail about how each image was shot. Unlike many texts that suggest that the artist approached the shoot with complete premeditation and control, Laing steps into his environment and begins evaluating the variables that will create different images. He clearly spends hours at many of his shoots, changing angles, settings and every imaginable variable, often choosing the best image well after the shoot. Laing writes all about the process of photography, only addressing the product when the process in completed. This is the genius of his book- it's about methodology, premeditated trial-and-error- no, not error, trial-and thoughtful reflection of results. You don't follow a step-by-step algorithm for a great shot; rather, you work the image with your hardware, the camera's software options, and your own creativity.Laing will likely affect you with his style and techniques. Two that most impressed me were his use of monochromatic images and his long-exposure shooting.His use of grayscale was fascinating not solely because of his final images, but for the reasons that he chooses to use grayscale in the first place. A better understanding of what sort of subjects and shooting situations suggest grayscale shooting was a great takeaway of this book. And though it is obvious that long exposure times are required for night shots and smoothing moving water of waterfalls, Laing's use of this technique extends far beyond these obvious applications and produces images that are stunningly beautiful and unique.If there is a criticism to offer of this book, it's about the layout. There is no logical sequence in its presentation, which lends the coffee-table analogy to its format- this is a book that you can pick up and browse in parts. But while not a textbook, this is a book from which to learn, and there is plenty of material from which to glean information. The random nature of the presentation thus necessitates a lot of reiteration- an obvious example are the many descriptions of the ND filters. While grouping of common topics could have cut down on repetition and also created a concentrated section from which he could build in complexity, it would also have felt more "textbookish", and perhaps Laing was looking to avoid that feel.In Camera is a book that will inspire as well as train, and for non-photographers, it will present beautiful images and brief stories that can be enjoyed by all. Superb and beautiful book- and I'm looking forward to his next one!

It is also a travel photography and you will see a large sample of interesting places in Europe and major US cities (I forgot the Slot Canyon in Arizona).The EXIF data for each picture is the upper left. Up front, there is a thumbnail picture index.Most pictures were shot with a wide-angle lens. I guess it helps to get in close in front of tourists and passing vehicles and other unwanted details.
